Fresh From A Yoga Teacher Training

Yoga teacher training (RYT 200) has created the opportunity for me to reflect on how I was living my life and how I want to move forward in the future.

For the longest time, I was under the impression that in order to be a good member of society you needed to take a job, any job, work long hard hours and put that job above and beyond anything else including your own mental and physical wellbeing.

Normal

I thought it was normal to be in debit and to be buying things you don’t need to make yourself happy. I believed that keeping up with the “Jones” was just as important as appearing like you have it all together even if you don’t.

Now part of me – after my first yoga teacher training – wonders why I thought I had to live my life like that in so much suffering and pain.

God

My father once told me at the end of my life when I am sitting before God and he is flipping through my book of life he is going to want to read stories about my life, my experiences and my individual journey.

My thought was “how do I make that happen?” When I finally realized that I have a choice. I have a choice in everything that I do, in every second and every moment I am blessed with.

Across Canada: Victoria, Vancouver, Nanaimo,  Comox, Campbell River, Kamloops, Banff, Jasper, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Hamilton, London, Halifax, Saint John, St Johns, yoga means many things to many people, for me it means slowing every down to reflect on the choices we all have when it comes to how we live our lives and care for our minds and bodies.

Amazing

It’s amazing to think about all the choices we have to make that impact how our minds and body’s operate. What we eat, drink, buy, watch, read, how much or how little we exercise, the people we surround ourselves with, the work we do and the circumstances we put ourselves in.

However, I do believe that is where the problem lies, society does not want us thinking for ourselves and that is why there are so many choices and variations of everything you can think of out there for us to choose from.

Healthier

If we start thinking for ourselves, we will be happier and healthier which means there will be less money for the pharmaceuticals company’s and big box stores to make off of us.

Refection and choice will be what I bring with me going forward in my life and yoga practice. I will be asking my self-questions like,” is this right for me? Is this good for me?”

Keeping refection and choice in my heart will help me set a good example for the people I teach.

In The End

They will see that I am being a good steward of my mind and body which will influence those around me. I find that there are so many opportunities in each and every day to practice what I am learning.
