The Connection Between Yoga & Yoga Teacher Training
When I think about yoga or even yoga teacher training, I think about relaxation. Yoga is a combination of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Yoga helps me to unwind and it helps to calm an anxious mind. When I meditate and focus on my breathing, it helps me to reach a relaxed state.
Once my body reaches a relaxed state, I can let go of the everyday tensions. Yoga helps me find where those tensions are located so I can gently work them out.
Some of the yoga poses – that I learned in yoga teacher training – I find beneficial for relieving tensions are the cat/cow pose and the thread the needle pose. Yoga originated in ancient India.
In many cities in Canada: Victoria, Vancouver, Nanaimo, Comox, Campbell River, Kamloops, Banff, Jasper, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Hamilton, London, Halifax, Saint John and even St Johns, many yoga schools teach people in ytts how to do yoga.
In Indian traditions, yoga is much more than physical exercise. It is meditative as well as spiritual. In general, there are many types of yoga. Yoga is good for the mind and for the health of those who partake in it.
Types of Yoga & Yoga Teacher Training
The great thing about yoga teacher trainings is that there are different levels of intensity and types. Some include Kundalini, Vinyasa, and Hatha yoga.
Kundalini yoga is a style of yoga that incorporates equal parts of spiritual and physical activity. It is also said to release the kundalini energy trapped in the lower spine.
Vinyasa yoga is the most athletic type. It groups postures, thus allowing people to move from one to the other. It helps one develop a more balanced body while also helping prevent injuries caused by repetitive motion.
Hatha yoga is also physically-based, yet it is slower-paced. Hatha yoga helps relieve anxiety and improves balance and fitness. There are many different types of yoga that each have their levels of intensity and experience. Before starting yoga, it would be beneficial to research and discover what type may be most pleasing for you.
Health Benefits of Yoga
Yoga in general has many health benefits. It helps to strengthen your bones and increases flexibility while improving your balance.
It also increases blood flow, helps to reduce your blood pressure, and improves lung capacity. As stated before, yoga also helps reduce anxiety. Yoga teaches techniques of relaxation relating to breathing and meditation.
It helps the body link to the mind allowing it to become more aware. When you go see a doctor, usually the first thing they want to do is prescribe a pill.
I have never been to a provider that has prescribed yoga. In today’s busy society, we are always on the go and we are always picking up stress and negativity.
Spending time doing yoga helps to bring our bodies and minds serenity, and is beneficial to our overall health.
