To be able to find that constant state of wellbeing and peace in my mind and my body. Feeling more confident in my day to day and future decisions, this comes from yoga and meditation.
To be enlightened is to be freed from the absolutism of the mind and to experience a deep spiritual peace.
Upon my research in my first yoga teacher training (YTT) I discovered enlightenment is important in Hindu, Buddhist and Yogic philosophy. According to most if not all teaching of yoga, enlightenment is the goal of all meditation and yogic practices, being physical, mental and/or spiritual.
YTT: Inner Peace
I lost my dad when I was 16 years old to a drunk driver, thankfully my mom survived the car accident. But losing him at such a young age and in that manner made me slip into a dark and negative place.
Meaning my thoughts were always more towards the negative, anything I said or put out to the universe had a negative twist to it.
I did move forward in my life, I got married & have two beautiful daughters. But with this dark and negative cloud always hanging my thoughts. It’s hard to raise them to trust and see the beauty the universe has to offer.
I ended up going through a divorce 8 years ago and recently made the move to live in Lloydminster. To put my life first to add some separation between my past life to my present life. And within months of moving the internal healing had started and continues to happen daily.
Now how did I get to know what enlightenment meant to me; approximately about a year ago I decided to talk in some yoga classes, to meditate again, to learn to sit in silence in my own mind and body and to learn to love myself and have happy and positive thoughts and push away the dark negativity I have been carrying around for years.
I have been learning to instruct a small group once a week. And the feeling I get once I have completed a class is beyond what I could have imagined.
I meditate daily, twice a day, first thing in the morning and before bed. Set my intentions for the day with a peaceful calming meditation and then to quiet my mind before bed.
This is my life now and I love it. I love feeling the connection this process has taken me and will continue to take me.
