The Long-Term Effects of Covid on Yoga

We conducted a small survey recently to ask regular practitioners of yoga specifically in Vancouver and Calgary how Covid had affected them with their practice of yoga and going to yoga studios.

Going Less

Many of the participants in the study stated that being able to go back to a yoga studio was truly what to them was practicing you again.

Also many of the participants stated that even though cleanliness enhancements  were permanent now in most yoga studios there was still a hesitancy with going to yoga studios.

This is due to the ongoing Covid variances which many people still feel there is a chance of getting Covid even with vaccinated being high.

Enhanced Practices

As said above, in the past yoga studios could be somewhat dirty, now anything less than a pristine clean yoga space will not survive in a post Covid world. This helps people to feel better with regards to going back to yoga studios as well.

It’s not just a benefit in not contracting Covid; but it also lowers the aspects of getting other transmissible diseases, like a cold and the common flu.

Long-Term Effects

Many in the study stated their normal return to pre-Covid levels would still be a few years off.

In fact, many in the study stated that they feel Covid isn’t over completely over and until Covid is like the common flu they will not return as they did prior to Covid.

In the end,  Covid had a massive effect on the yoga industry. A good percentage of yoga studios across Canada closed permanently for the fact that they weren’t able to offer yoga classes at their maximum levels or had to close completely for long periods of times due to lockdowns. Which had a tremendous effect on their bottom line.

But as the years go on, new yoga studios will open with enhanced cleaning and Covid measures still in place and the norm now will be to offer both online classes and in person classes.
