Many famous people are doing yoga more – just like any other human beings. This is because the benefits of doing yoga not just helped them with their careers but on an individual level as well. In this blog, we will talk about several celebrities including Emma Watson, Demi Moore, Krisin Davis and Robert Downey Junior and why they’ve chosen to do yoga a part of their lives.

Emma Watson, known for the Harry Potter series, has been doing yoga since her early 20s. A few years ago she became a yoga teacher.

She states that she did this because: I needed a way to cope and to transitioning between my acting and my personal life.

Moore has been acting for many years. And following a substance and addictive lifestyle for many years  and after her divorce with Ashton Kutcher she decided to embark on a healthy lifestyle. And a friend of hers suggested she try yoga.

So she embarked on doing yoga three times a week and she became a certified yoga teacher recently. She did this with the none Nine Treasure Yoga Studio in Hollywood. She was quoted as saying: yoga gave me a sense of peace.

Kristin Davis

Well known as the actor who plays Charlotte on Sex in the City.  At the age of 49, she ended up doing yoga again after taking a break for almost 20 years. She became a yoga teacher at 49 specifically ashtanga yoga and now teaches in Los Angeles to other actors because: I am able to relate to how yoga can help to center as an actor.

Robert Downey Junior or Iron Man has a history of drug abuse and convictions dating back to 2001. Yoga help him to kick his addictions and to get his life back on track. And for the last 15 years he has remained sober.

And he has become one of the biggest box office stars in Hollywood. He is well known for his other acting roles in  the movies Zodiac and Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang.

There are other stars who do yoga on a regular basis also, like Gwen Paltrow and Sting.

The fact is the first yoga studio that  opened up North America was in Hollywood in 1947 by Indra Devi. And the first yoga students were actors. This was because of what actors knew then and now: yoga helps them to look aesthetically their best naturally and it also gives them a calm and center; in an industry which is founded on make-believe.
